Colonel John L. Dawber is a ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. After earning a bachelor’s in Business Administration, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army, Air Defense Artillery Branch. Following ADA Officer Basic Course, COL Dawber was assigned as a platoon leader in C Battery, 4th Battalion, 43rd ADA, Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Bliss, Texas. He was later assigned as the Executive Officer to B Battery, 1-1st ADA, Fort Bliss. Afterwards, he attended the ADA Officer Advanced Course at Fort Bliss and the Combined Arms Services Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
COL Dawber returned to Fort Bliss to serve as the Brigade Fire Direction Center Officer-in-Charge and Deputy Brigade S3, 11th ADA Brigade. Following a break in service in 1999, he returned to the Army and took command of A Battery, 5-52 ADA BN, Fort Bliss. Following command, he was reassigned to the 11th ADA Brigade as the Deputy Brigade S3, serving in this capacity for Operation Iraqi Freedom. COL Dawber was selected for the Office of Secretary Defense/Joint Chiefs of Staff intern program and was subsequently assigned to the Pentagon. He was assigned to the joint staff J5 Political-Military Directorate, where his portfolio included training and equipping of Iraq Security Forces coupled with Coalition Operations for both Iraq and Afghanistan. Subsequently, he served on the Army G8 Staff as the System Synchronization Officer for the Patriot and MEADS weapon system programs. In 2006, COL Dawber earned his master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He then attended the resident Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth. He was subsequently assigned as the Operations Officer and then Executive Officer, 5-7 ADA BN in Hanau and Kaiserslautern, Germany. He next served as the Brigade S3 for the 357th Army Air and Missile Defense, Kaiserslautern, Germany. His next assignment was as the Lieutenant Colonel Assignments Officer, Executive Officer, and Interim Branch Chief for the ADA Branch, U.S. Army Human Resources Command Officer Personnel Management Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky. Consequently, he was selected to serve as Chief, Operations Branch, OPMD. COL Dawber moved on to command 3-2 ADA BN at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After earning his master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he served as the G3 for 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii. His most recent assignment was as the Deputy Commanding Officer, 32nd AAMDC, Fort Bliss.
COL Dawber has deployed in support of Operation Active Fence, Gaziantep, Turkey; Joint Task Force-East, Bulgaria; Operation Iraqi Freedom; Operation Desert Thunder; Joint Task Force-Southwest Asia, Kuwait; and Operation Southern Watch, Saudi Arabia.

CSM Robert J. Walker
CSM Robert J. Walker enlisted in the Army in November 1997 as an Avenger Crewmember.
CSM Walker graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, Texas, as a 14S Avenger Crewmember. He later reclassified and completed AIT as a 14J (now 14G) Air Defense Battle Management System Operator.
CSM Walker previously served as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 1-7 Air Defense Artillery Battalion. Other duty positions include: Operations Sergeant Major, 108th ADA Brigade; Operations Sergeant Major, 2-44 ADA Bn; First Sergeant, Alpha Battery, 2-44 ADA; First Sergeant, Delta Battery, 3-2 ADA; S3 Operations NCOIC, 31st ADA Brigade; First Sergeant, Bravo Battery, 2-6 ADA; AIT Platoon Sergeant, Bravo, 2-6 ADA; G3 Operations NCO, 32nd AAMDC; Avenger/Stinger Team Observer/Controller, Joint Readiness Training Center; Squad Leader, Delta Battery, 5-5 ADA Bn; Team Leader, ADA Battery, 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment; and Team Leader, Alpha, 3-4 ADAR (Airborne).

CSM Walker’s stateside tours include Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He also served two overseas tours in Korea. In 1999, he deployed to Kosovo (KFOR) with the 82nd Airborne Division and supported peacekeeping operations in the region. He also served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
